HOT! CVS diaper and baby clearance

I've hit several of the CVS stores in my area.  All of them are totally different!!  Some stores has some their Huggies diapers & wipes on clearance up to 75% off!!  A few had their pull-ups for 75% off!  CVS has one of their kind of diapers & wipes up to 75% off too.  They varied from 25% off to 75% off.  Also Johnson & Johnson products were on clearance.

Diapers were $2.37 plus I got $2 in ECB

Baby powder was .74 cents

Hand santizer was .87 cents

Total= 3.98

I had $4 in ECB for a prior trip so it was free.

I just paid 35 cents in tax & I got $2 in ECB.

**This is not meant to brag.  I hope this can inspire you to do it too!!**

I only shop CVS now because it's the easiest program (in my opinion) and

I was getting overwhelmed with all the other drug stores.

Swagbucks~ check your toolbar for a code

If you downloaded their toolbar, you'll see a red envelope then it says "from TSG".  When there is a code you'll see a number in the parathesis.  Unfortunately, Swagbucks prohibits us/me from posting the code but I'll try to alert you when I can where the code is.

It's worth 5 Swagbucks until 1:15pm PST.  Good luck!!!

p.s. I just typed 'swagbucks' in my toolbar and won 11 swagbucks!  love it!

Do you use Swagbucks????

I LOVE Swagbucks!!  It's just like using Google only that you earn random points aka swagbucks for searching, entering codes, etc.  I started Swagbucks last year and have earned twelve $5 Amazon gift cards!!  That's $70 in free money!!

Last week, Amazon had healthy organic fruit loop cereal for $8 or so for 6 boxes.  I used two $5 gift certificates and got them for free.

They seem to burn a whole in my pocket and I can't keep them very long. ;)

A couple hints to earn more swagbucks...  install their tool bar.  You'll earn a swagbuck or two every day just for using it.   Then in the search bar type the name of the website (not the url).    Ex:  Dawn's Deals and Delights or whatever you're searching for.  I usually earn a few swagbucks just for doing the search.  An extra step but it's paying off.

If you haven't signed up & want to here's my referral link :)

thanks!!!

CVS trip~ 5/26

A couple of weeks ago, I scored at CVS.  They had glucose monitors on sale plus you got $15 in ECBs with purchase.  I had a coupon for a free monitor so I essentially got $15 free ECBs. :)  [We don't need the monitors but I donate them.]

Since I had a little 'funny' ECBs to burn, I wanted to get some swim diapers & try the new denim diapers.  I lucked out because I had a CVS & manufacturer coupon for each!!  CVS has a great deal this week on men's body washes.  You can buy 2 for $4 each and you'll get $8 back. (basically free).  I had a buy 1 get 1 free coupon so I got 2 for $4 plus $8 in ECBs back. :)

Huggies denim diapers $9.99-$1 coupon- $3 coupon=$5.99

Little swimmers $6.99- $2 coupon - $1 coupon=$3.99

Gillette hair & body wash 2 for $8- $4=$4

plus tax

minus $16 in ECBs from prior visit....

I paid 8 cents for all of this

I also received $8 in ECBs for the body wash :)

How to start a stock pile

I had someone recently email me about stock piling items.  Here's a great article about where to start your stockpile.  I never pay more than 25 cents for toothpaste.  I usually can get it free with register rewards or extra care bucks, etc.   We've got enough toothpaste to last us the rest of the year.  Likewise, lately I've been getting lots of free pasta and rice.  My pantry is pretty stocked.  People have teased me that I could feed an army with what we've got in our house.  Of course, it took awhile to get to this point though.

What do you make with free stuff?

We've got lots of (free) milk, rice and eggs.  So I'm making Crockpot Rice Pudding right now.  I've made it several times before and we love it.   One cup of rice makes a ton of rice pudding.  I use regular milk instead of the heavy cream/half and half.

To make this extra special use the inside of a vanilla bean instead of the vanilla extract.  Delish!!!!

Pasta with Tomato-Blue Cheese Sauce

My brother was in town for a few days so I made this for him.  There was a tad too much red pepper flake for him but my husband and I liked it.  Actually our 2 year old even ate it.

Only thing I changed was to use regular milk instead of heavy cream.   Delish!!

Shopping adventures from today...

There were a few good deals at Vons that I wanted to get and Ralphs had a couple too.

Vons... 4 bottles of Classico pasta sauce (love these!!), 2 Kings rolls, 96% lean beef which was 50% off and beef for stir fry which was also 50% off.

[We're going to have burgers tonight on yummy Hawaiian rolls, roasted french fries & cole slaw.  This dinner cost less than $5.]

I had a $1.50 off ground beef coupon when you buy 2 Classico sauces that combined with the 50% off clearance.  The ground beef was $1.10!!!!  Unbelievable price for ground beef so lean.

I didn't realize until I had left but the other beef rang up wrong... in my favor!!  This never happens to me.  They actually paid me 50 cents for that meat.  I love it!

I used the $4 coupon that I earned over the weekend so I only paid $3.98 for this.  85% savings!!!!

I then headed over to Ralphs to get a couple of things.  If you get magazines like Parents, Parenting, cooking magazines, etc. there have been good coupons in them lately.  I had three $1 off Smart Taste pasta coupons. They were on sale for $1 this week... FREE pasta!! :)  The sour cream was $1 which is a super deal. The milk & light lemonade are staples in our house. ;)

I spent $4.96 and saved almost $11 for a 69% savings.

A few steals from the past week...

I went to Vons over the weekend, I spent only $20 and some change on all this plus got back $4 to spend on a future visit.  I had saved over 80%!!!

4 bottles of Windex cleaner, bananas, strawberries, 2 4-packs of mini cream cheese, 2 boxes of cereal, 2 7 Ups, 2 cans of beans, loaf of brean, 2 English Muffins, 3 pasta, 3 Lunchables, Cole Slaw, Sun Chips and 3.5 lbs. of meat!!  WOWZA!!!

Highlights...

--The meat in the front is sirloin steak.  5 big pieces (3.5 lbs total) for less than $10.  It was on 50% clearance. We grilled one steak for dinner and the rest went to the freezer.

--3 Lunchables were 99 cents each but I had $1 off coupons for each.  FREE!

--4 bottles of Windex...I don't remember all the details but I made $$ on them with coupons & sale. :)

--7 Up was on sale over the weekend for 69 cents.  I had two $1 off coupons plus an ecoupon.

They paid me for them :)

--Sun Chips... Free with coupon

--Mini cream cheese rang up at 49 cents (I think it was wrong) plus I had two coupons.  I made $$.

A few tasty treats

This soup was delish.  It was so much better the next day too.  Next time I make it, I'll make it a couple of days ahead of time.  Fennel Potato Leek Soup

A friend of mine recently tried quinoa & raved about it.  It's a grain that is very small.  It is very high in protein and good for you.  I made this Mexican Quinoa Skillet last week.  Of course, I tweaked the recipe. ;)  I added some black beans, ground turkey (instead of beef) & roasted corn.

Do you ever have leftover taco or chili that you don't know what to do with?  This is a great recipe for it. Taco Skins... yummy!

We had some family in town a few weeks ago & I made Penne with Butternut Squash & Goat Cheese for dinner one night.  My family & friends are always my guinea pigs.  Everyone really enjoyed it.  You can get cubed butternut squash at Trader Joes or can cut it up yourself.  I find it difficult to find when it's not fall time.

I made these Brown Sugar Bacon Waffles this morning.  I wanted to use up some leftover bacon and had some buttermilk to use.  Did you know that buttermilk is actually low fat?!?!!  It's good for you!   I used half the amount of bacon because that's all I had & it was still good.  This recipe makes a ton of waffles!!  My freezer is full of them.

We eat a TON of Mexican food.  This dish (below) can be tweaked with any different kind of meat or no meat. You could top with avocado, sour cream, cilantro & cheese.

Southwestern Black Bean Pasta

1 – 15 oz. can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 – 15 oz. can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 red, yellow, or orange bell pepper, chopped
1 medium sized onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 3/4 teaspoon cumin
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste if desired
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Lime wedges, grated Monterrey jack cheese, and cilantro for garnish
1/2 pound pasta

Heat the olive oil over medium high heat in a large sauté pan. Add the onion sauté for 5 minutes, until tender. Add the chopped bell peppers and sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes, and then add the garlic and the spices and sauté 1 more minute. Stir in the beans and tomato sauce.

Let the sauce simmer over low while you prepare the pasta, about 20 minutes. Stir the prepared pasta into the sauce. Taste for flavor and add additional salt if you’d like. Serve topped with a lime wedge for squeezing, Monterrey jack cheese, and chopped cilantro.

These were very good!!  I didn't use the pickled jalapenos.  I think I used some veggies instead... zucchini and corn.

Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas

1 bunch cilantro

1 cup sour cream

1 (7 ounce) can pickled sliced jalapenos (with carrots & onions)

2 (7 ounce) cans prepared green chile salsa

2 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cooked and shredded

12 (6 inch) flour tortillas

2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

To Make Sour Cream Mixture: In a blender or food processor, puree cilantro, sour cream, jalapeno salsa and 1/2 can of the green chile salsa. Set aside.
To Make Chicken Mixture: In a large bowl, combine shredded chicken, onion and the remaining 1 1/2 cans of green chile salsa. Mix well.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Heat tortillas in conventional or microwave oven until soft. Pour enough of the sour cream mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish to coat the bottom.

Place 2 heaping tablespoonfuls of the chicken mixture in each tortilla, roll up and place seam side down in the baking dish. Pour remaining sour cream mixture over all and top with shredded cheese.
Cover dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees F for about 30 minutes, or until dish is heated through and bubbling.

I made this Slow Cooker Ham for Easter.  It was super easy and allowed me to use our oven for all the side dishes... which were a lot!! :)

I've made a ton more things but can't find the recipes anymore. :(  Happy cooking!!

I'm baaaccccckkkk

Thanks to a sweet message from a friend, I've decided to get back into the swing of bloggin' again. Not sure how often I'll be posting but I'll try post a couple times a week.

My computer lost a ton of recipes that I recently made. :(  I'll post a few that I didn't lose & a few good steals in the past week too.
