Rave~ 6pm.com

I've recently read some blogs about how cheap things are at 6pm.com.  So I thought I'd check it out.

Now that fall is hitting in So Cal, I think I need to put the flip flops and sandals away for a little bit.  If you know me, I have little to no fashion sense. : (  Not sure if these are "cool" or not but I don't care. ; )

I just bought these shoes. There were on a huge clearance, shipping was about $7 & no tax.  Well worth it for not having to tote a toddler around the stores!! : )  I'm set for a few months of cooler weather before I'm back in my sandals again.

Rachael Ray~ Tomato Minestrone with Buttery Pine Nut Breadcrumbs

I made this for dinner last night.  Easy, quick & hearty.  The breadcrumbs were soooo yummy!!

I can never follow a recipe exactly as written.  Here are the things I tweaked.  I didn't have fresh green beans so I used canned green beans.  I put them in about 2 minutes before serving.   I also added an entire bag of fresh spinach.  [optional but added lots of good vitamins]   I didn't use garbanzo beans.  I used two cans of kidney beans instead.

It makes a ton of soup.  We'll be eating leftovers for a couple of days.  And it's meatless too.

Bread Outlets in OC

You can get some great deals on breads, pastries, tortillas, etc. at bread outlet stores.  I've hit the one in Mission Viejo several times.  You never know what you might find but they usually have much better prices than the grocery store.

Here are a few...  Hopefully these are all still open.

Vons trip~ 10/6

I went to Vons yesterday to take advantage (again) of the Kellogg cereal deal before it ended.  They also have a new Catalina where if you buy 3 to 5 Pillsbury rolls, breads, cinnamon rolls, etc. you'll receive a coupon for money back on your next purchase.

I got all this plus 3 boxes of Capri Sun (from a deal a couple of weeks ago) for $16 and some change.  Plus I got a $3 off Catalina coupon.  So basically $13 for all of this.  Not as sweet as a couple of weeks ago but not bad considering cereal is usually $3+ per box and there are 3 sandwiches for hubbie's lunch.

The cereal was 49 cents each with the sale & coupon.  The whole wheat pasta was only 34 cents with the sale & coupon.  I should have got more pasta!!

10 Day Give

I just read about this awesome project & signed up.  It starts today, Oct. 1st (really is it October?!?!!) through the 10th.  I'm excited about giving back this month.   You don't have to give money.  "Give your time or anything you have that can be translated into value to someone else. Get creative. There is a lot more that you can give other than money."  Here are a 101 Ways to Give.

I've already done today's "give" and I think it will really help the person that received it.  It didn't cost me any money either.  Do you want to join me???
